Beauty Buzz: Beach Waves

Beach waves !!! I just love them !! It's the perfect style, put together yet undone !! If you have read some of my other post you know that I'm a hairstylist. I took a break from it while I was pregnant & I'm starting back up again this month. Hair is a passion of mine & I love trying new styles & products. In honor of me starting my career back up again I figured I would start doing a weekly/monthly "Beauty Buzz" post.. A "Beauty Buzz" post will be all about my favorite products, tutorials, hair I have done,  makeup etc. Ok sorry I jump around so much , let's go back to the beach waves. I have 4 obsessions that help me achieve beach waves photographed below.

To start you need a blank canvas. I have wavy frizzy hair so I personally like to blow dry my hair the night before to save me time. Your hair also holds better if it's not fresh & clean. Also let's face it, I'm a mom, I'm lucky to take a shower. Nevermind wash, blow dry & style my hair all in the same day! I section my hair horizontally so I'm not working with to much at a time. I take about 1 - 1 1/2 inch sections & wrap my hair around the wand away from my face. I continue to take sections until my whole head has been curled. I shake it up & then straighten the last few inches of my hair! Then I spray my root area with some dry shampoo. Next I spray the texturizing mist throughout my hair, mid shaft to end while lightly scrunching. Let me tell you that mist smells glorious, its like wearing perfume. Finish with a light mist of hairspray & TADAAA beach waves! This style is perfect for me. My hair is usually a wreck by the end of the day from miss Hadley pulling at it. Oh don't forget spit up & drool, lovely. Mine as well start the day off with a messy style.

" You are my I Love You "

You are my I Love You

I am your parent you are my child

I am your quiet place, you are my wild

I am your calm face, you are my giggle
I am your wait, you are my wiggle
I am your audience, you are my clown
I am your London Bridge, you are my falling down
I am your Carrot Sticks, you are my licorice
I am your dandelion, you are my first wish
I am your water wings, you are my deep
I am your open arms, you are my running leap
I am your way home, you are my new path
I am your dry towel, you are my wet bath
I am your dinner you are my chocolate cake
I am your bedtime, you are my wide awake
I am your finish line, you are my race
I am your praying hands, you are my saving grace
I am your favourite book, you are my new lines
I am your nightlight, you are my sunshine
I am your lullaby, you are my peek-a-boo
I am your kiss goodnight, you are my I love you.

This is the first story I have read to Hadley. A little book I found tucked behind a bunch of others at Marshall's. I picked it up, read it & just thought it was so sweet. I couldn't pass it up. This is a story I will continue to read to my girl because she is my I LOVE YOU.

Here she is loving story time.

I would love if some of you mamas or daddy's could leave a comment with your favorite books to read to your little ones. Even if your not a parent , let me know of a book that has a special spot in your heart ! I would love to start building a nice book collection for Hadley.

Happy Sunday

We did a quick photoshoot with our amazing friend/photographer Tara Renaud Photography lastnight. I am totally in love with the photos! The entire vibe suits our little family so well. It was Hadley's first time at the beach and she was loving it! She was so nosey looking all around & of course loving being a little mermaid. She was loving the wind blowing through her peach fuzz haha !! Enjoy the photos !!

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding, oh man what can I say these past 2 months have been quite a journey.  I always knew I wanted to breastfeed even before I was ever pregnant. It was just the vision I had when I dreamt about having a baby. That vision did not include throbbing nipples or milk squirting my baby in the face but oh well. There are so many books & classes that can prepare you for breastfeeding but I think its something that you psychically need to do to learn. It takes practice. I personally didn't take any classes while I was pregnant, I did a lot of online reading. Not " What to Expect When Expecting" reading , real life reading. Blogs with nothing but the raw truth. I think a lot of expectant mamas go right for the text books but to me this was better! Whats better than reading other mommy's experiences. After 9 months of non stop researching & growing to love reading blogs I can finally be one of those mamas that can hopefully help other expecting mamas. Reading blogs really helped me through my pregnancy, it was somewhere to learn that wasn't scary. Medical sites & books can seem scary and are super impersonal. Its boring and bland. So I am going to tell you what my breastfeeding experience has been like so far from birth to 2 months. Hopefully I can help some of you expectant mamas or just give others something real to read. When Hadley was first born they put her on my chest immediately and she stayed there for 1 hour. That was so amazing and such a bonding experience. The crazy thing is right away she started to suck at my chest, she was looking for my boobs. I couldn't believe that right out of the womb like that she knew what she was doing. But hey look where she just came from, I would be looking for a nice meal too. The nurse had me bring her to my breast but she didn't latch on right away, she kind of just explored the area & that was it. While I was in the hospital my experience with breastfeeding was total torture!!! She would not latch on correctly at all & my nipples got sore & cracked. I was sooo emotional because it was not working for me. All the nurses and lactation specialist were working with me but I was in a lot of pain and Hadley was not getting it. Finally the last day I was there my saving grace came in!! Thank goodness, I thought for sure I was going to have to formula feed ! Her fix was to drip a small amount of formula on my nipple to basically lure Hadley in & that was it !!!! The next few days I did that at the begining of each feed & it worked great !! Once my milk came in I didn't need to, my own milk would leak out. For those of you who don't know when babies are first born you have colostrum which is full of antibodies to help fight off diseases. Your milk usually takes a few days to come in. I kept being like "how will I know when my milk comes it." Well it was basically the same as my "how do I know if I'm in labor" question , YOU KNOW. I literally looked like Dolly Parton within 24hours. For me it happened to quickly and I got extremely engorged. My boobs were sore, hard & lumpy. Not fun, I was in pain & literally crying in the shower letting warm water hit my chest. Warm compress, a nice shower, feeding & massaging is what helps relieve engorgement. When I got engorged I had NO Idea what was happening. Being a hormonal new mommy I thought my boobs were clogged and I wasn't going to be able to feed Hadley. I told you I was a nervous ninny, I always think the worst in a situation. Luckily one of my amazing friends had gone through the same thing & my sweet hubby called her to get the facts while I was a blubbering mess. Oh man, he really was the best support system those rough first few weeks. There were many nights feeding her I just cried because my nipples were so sore that I dreaded putting her on them. I also got mastitis about a month into breastfeeding which is an infection from getting a clogged milk duct. How fabulous huh? Wow I'm making breastfeeding sound like a tragedy. I promise you it's not! It is by far the most amazing thing I have ever done & I am so proud of myself for not giving up. Hadley is a happy, healthy, chubby 2 month old who now eats like a champ. Breast is best for us. It may not be best for everyone & that's ok too. Everything I went through has been worth it. I would take all the pain and the emotions all over again to get to this point. I am no longer in pain, engorged or feel like my nipples are being sawed off. Thank goodness! The begining is hard, it's all new to you, its all new to your baby. Those first few weeks you will feel like you are around the clock feeding & you mostly are but it doesn't stay like that forever. In the past few months I have learned so much. I am fascinated with breastfeeding, I think it's so beautiful what our bodies can do. Not everyone's experience os like mine, some boobs & babies cooperate at the same time. Wouldn't that be magical! But like I said I would never go back and change it. My hard time actually made me appreciate breastfeeding more. I think it's soo rewarding. I could honestly ramble on forever about breastfeeding, there is just so much. I have wrote this post over a few days and kept adding more and more, I need to cut myself off haha. But I hope this helps for some expectant mamas or sheds some light on mamas going through what I went through !!!

Have a wonderful day :)
thanks for reading !!

Happy 2 Month Birthday Babygirl

As of 8:48 pm our little Hadley Willow will be 2 months. I can not believe it !! I'm not quite sure where these few months have gone but I can tell you they have been the best few months of my life. Being a mommy is the best thing in the world, I can't even express how much I love it. Life as I knew it has changed dramatically but I wouldn't go back for one second ! I can not imagine my life without her !! So much has changed in just a few short months. She is no longer my squishy little newborn, I swear that teeny tiny stage only last like 2 weeks. She is extremely strong, holding her head up like a champ. Not to mention she's almost doubled in size. Hadley was born at 7lbs she's now 12 1/2 !! She's also grown over 2 inches. I've already had to pack away some clothes because she's now wearing 3 month clothing!! It was sad but I love buying her clothes so that helped turn my frown upside down. Smiling & cooing happens all day now & it's soo adorable ! I could stare at that big gummy grin all day long. My absolute favorite thing is how she stares at me ! I'll be holding her & she will just gaze into my eyes with her little fist under her chin. It gets me everytime, I swear I melt into a puddle! She has found her hands and is always sucking on them. Ecspecially when she wants to eat in the middle of the night , I'll hear her slurping them up. Night time feedings are not as often as they were which is exciting. She wakes up twice about 3 to 3 1/2 hours apart. Then after that somedays she will sleep for another few hours!! Lastnight I was up at 1:30, then at 4:30 but then after that we went back to sleep til 9 !! I'll be looking forward to only waking up once or not at all but I don't mind this either. Let's face it even if she was sleeping through the night I would still be waking up the same amount to check on her! She's also recognizing voices now and follows the sound of your voice! I just can't believe how much has changed in 2 months, it's crazy ! She really is a wonderful baby. When she cries it's usually just because she's hungry or needs a diaper change & most of the time she doesn't cry over a dirty diaper. Occasionally she will have a witching hour but rarely ! It use to occur a lot more. For those of you who don't know what a witching hour is (I had no clue) it's a few hours out of the day where your little one will fuss for no reason. For most babies it's later in the day, Hadley's use to be anywhere around 5-8pm. Not that entire time just somewhere in that gap. She does great in the car & in the stroller which makes it easy to do errands! Thank goodness !! Drooling is also a new thing. Especially when she chomping on those hands or some days she's just blowing random bubbles. I just love watching her grow and change. Everyday I find out a little more about her. She's perfect & somedays I still can't believe she's mine. I feel so lucky & blessed. I also feel like I become more & more of a mother everyday & learn new things about myself. Happy 2 months to my daughter, my everything, my heart, my sunshine, my life, my Hadley Willow.

Mommy life

Where do the weeks go?? Last time I posted was Saturday! It does not feel like that many days. Oh man , time slow down ! I use to think my weeks went by fast before but being a mommy they fly by. From morning to night it really feels non stop ! When night time rolls around I'm sitting here like "what did I do today"! All I know is that every day being a mommy is sooo amazing! Lately Hadley smiles & coos so much it seriously melts my heart. It's the best thing to wake up to in the morning. Today I decided to do another DIY project thanks to lurking shops on Instagram! I came across these fabulous handmade felt flower crowns that were sooo cute! The shopaholic in me was screaming "buy one" but the inner crafter said "get out your glue gun, you got this. I went to Joann's and bought the supples to make one & it only costed me $5 verses spending $25-30 !!! I was super proud of that. I'm very excited at the results !! I hand made each flower out of felt ! Thank you Pinterest for your help. Pinterest never fails, when in doubt there will be a pin to help you !! I'm going to post pictures below of miss Hadley rocking her crown !! If anyone is interested I will do a entire post on how to make them, just comment below ! The shopaholic in me didn't stay away for to long because after Joann's I went to Marshall's. Oops! But I must say I scored some awesome high waisted jeans for $20 which was great !! Oh & a super cute crop top! It feels so good to be able to be fashionable again & where whatever I want ! Highwaisted & crop tops were just not working pregnant. Shocking! But there are some people out there that will attempt it! No offense, power to you but I stayed away. Today was also the first time I took a shower while being home alone since having Hadley! Isn't that ridiculous ? I don't know why I thought it was going to be so difficult !! I'm such a stress case haha! She just chilled out in her little bouncy chair in the bathroom, it was perfect ! That bouncy chair is seriously amazing !! I have been using it so much lately because she loves being where her mama is !! She watches my while I do my hair and makeup, it's adorable. Today she hung out in it on the table watching me make her flower crown! I just love hanging out with my little bestie. She seriously is perfect. Well sorry I didn't write for a few days , hope you enjoy ! Below I posted some pictures from through out the week !!!

Have a fabulous day !!
XO Torie

Flower crown // it was so much fun making this!! Hand made each flower out of regular sheets of felt ! Such an adorable accessory , can't wait to make more !
Oh & can we talk about her little black denim leggings !! Obsessed !!! Got them on sale at macys for $7 !!

This bow is my obsession right now !! I purchased it from Ruby Blue Inc! She sells such amazing bows !! Can't wait to get her more!!! I'm thinking leopard next!!

My Marshall's purchase! It was worth it though !!! Love it! You can't beat an entire outfit for $32 !! I spy little Hadley snoozing away in the carriage !! All you can see is her big gold bow !! Haha

Told you this chair is wonderful. Bouncing Hadley with my foot while folding laundry! Motherhood definitely brings out your inner multitasker! It's pretty amazing the things you learn to do all at the same time or with one hand !

Hadley watching me get ready & our first baby Sierra is always near by ! Love her

This turned me into a pile of mush! She was SO excited to see her daddy when he got home from work! AWWW

Hadleys 2 Month appointment !! OH MY!!

Yesterday was miss Hadley's 2 month appointment ! How did that happen??? I have been dreading that appointment since her last one ! Unlike when I was pregnant and couldn't wait to get to the doctors and be checked out ( the hypocondriac that I am ). This appointment was the start of her vaccines ! Sooo scary !! I literally could not sleep at all the night before thinking about it. I was so paranoid ! What if she gets a fever ? What if she's in pain ? What if she has a bad reaction ? It took everything in my power to stay away from that damn Dr. Google or Dr. Web Md. At her appointment I couldn't believe how much she had grown ! She's now 12 1/2 lbs and about 22 1/2 inches long! My little porkie! I told you previously her bestfriends were left & right boob, I wasn't kidding !! She's in the 84th percentile for her weight !! I feel so blessed we have a healthy, happy growing girl !! As for the shots , I hated watching !! It made me so sad ! No joke , I pretty much cried more than her. I hate feeling so helpless in a situation, I could not wait to just pick her up and hold her close! My hubby and I spent the night cuddled with our little babe and watching over her extra close of course!! Thankfully she wasn't crazy fussy like I was anticipating ! She was pretty much her usual self & slept well ! She still had her same appetite and was up a couple times to feed during the night ! Surprisgly I was able to sleep through my anxiety as well with the occasional glance at her chest to make sure she was breathing ! But that's pretty much a nightly thing for me ! Like I said I'm one paranoid mama! Oh and I also had to keep touching her head to make sure she wasn't getting a fever! I wish I was one of those calm, cool, collective people. I don't know how they do it! Although they probably would say " I don't know how they do it" about a spaz like me! Still the next day I am watching her like a hawk! Oh motherhood :) ! Any who today is July 19th my husbands 26th Birthday ! Happy Birthday love, I hope your first birthday as a daddy is fabulous !! This is our 10th birthday together!! First one was when he was turning just 17 , I made him a personalized picture frame with our first picture we ever took. The picture was taken from a disposable camera & developed at walmart, I don't miss doing that !! We still have that frame & picture. He actually still has every little craft I ever made him & every note I wrote him through high school. I love that he saved it all !! Hopefully one day we can show them to Hadley & she can see how mommy & daddys love story began ! I hope everyone has a wonderful fun filled weekend.

Did someone hit fast forward?

As I lay in bed on this rainy day with my little one swinging in her swing next to me all I can think of is time. Where does it go ? How does it go by so fast? Everything seems like it comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Everyone always use to tell me " as you get older time goes by even faster." Ugh I wish they were lying when they told me that ! I'm pretty sure I was just in 8th grade, the year I fell for my husband. He was in 9th & we talked on the phone for hours daily . We would watch tv shows over the phone & laugh for hours! Oh the sweet innocence , no cares in the world. Little did we know the next 13 years were going to flash before our eyes & we were going to be married with a beautiful babygirl ! At that point we didn't even know that by the time we were 16 we would be "boyfriend & girlfriend". I feel like it was yesterday we starting dating, thinking we were soo grown. I worked at an ice cream stand & he would come visit me on his motorcycle. Oh man I thought he was so cool. Let's just hope Hadley is never into a boy on a motorcycle, I know her daddy won't stand for that! We had our break ups here and there and people would say "your young there's other people out there" , "it's just puppy love". Well this was something people were wrong about , no one ever compared to him, it was not puppy love, he is my true love. My soul mate, you can think I'm a cheese ball all you want but we both truly believe there is that one special person in the world for you! We were lucky to find our soulmates so young. So many memories of things that feel like they were yesterday! Highschool, prom, those friends that sadly become strangers, the friends that become closer, vacations, parties, good days, bad days, birthdays, where did it go? Who hit the fast forward button while I wasn't looking? My pregnancy, did it even happen? I look back at pictures from just 7 1/2 weeks ago and feel like it was gone in a flash! My Hadley is 7 1/2 weeks already!!! Almost 2 months ! How? I'm pretty sure it was just yesterday I peed on a stick and got those two fabulous pink lines my husband and I were waiting for! She's growing so quickly! The days just roll into eachother, I want to bottle up the time! As close as I can get to that is taking pictures of all her precious moments ! Hey even the not so precious ! I could remanice all day & sit here shocked about how fast time goes by. But as fast as it goes I am thankful for every single moment. Time is precious, good & bad. Make every moment count, even the ones that don't feel important, they all are.
